Wear glue-on nails. It will help you break the habit.
Tiffany R—I have used glue-on nails for years & my nails are just as strong as they ever were. If you want to grow your own nails, you just use glue-ons until yours grow out a little & then load them up with polish. Then you won’t want to bite them.

Get a bowl of lemon juice and dip your fingers in that, so you won’t bite them.

I actually went to get my nails done and once I took the artificial nails off, my nails where very long. I loved how nice and long they looked that I never dared to bite them! lol I paint them very often so that also makes you not want to bite them because you wont mess up the nail polish.
Now I can leave them w/out nail polish and I guess you just get used to no bitting them anymore because I just stopped.
i have friends who do that do..they tell me that they paint their nails in order to stop but look at this video i think it may help

Take a ballon. Then put flour in a bottle and some water. Then pour that into the ballon. Next you just tie it then start squeezing it. You should be out of the habit in no time. Worked on 4 people. Good Luck!!!

Just think of all of the germs that you are eating… underneath your fingernails(no matter how you keep them clean). That’s how I stopped with my bad habit.
paint them a color you really like that you think looks good. when you bite them, it won’t taste very good and you’ll be messing them up!
hope i helped:)
u can put things on ur nails like tape or something.

I have the same problem, but what I’ve tried works! Put on fake nails for two weeks, (there to hard to really bite), then after they come off put on nail polish, a couple coats and that should be good. The nail polish will taste bad when you bite it. I know how hard it is but it’s all in your mind!
silly putty works to keep your fingers out of your mouth I would squeeze it when I was in a boring class or just needed something to keep my hands busy with.
the main goal is to keep your fingers away from your mouth.
If you go to the movies, bring or buy something to snack on, so that you don’t end up chewing your fingers… It helped me a ton.

tried peeling and cutting garlic (regularly) whenever i tried to chew my nails….that stopped me…my friends do the same and they have a habit of chewing nails too
If you wear glue-on nails then it will just ruin your nail completely. It will actually break your nail and make them soft enough that they can break easily, so please don’t follow Val. If anything, chew gum, apply nail hardener (that prevents me from biting my nails because I know that there is paint on it), or there is this cream that you put on your nails that prevents you from biting them because if you try to bite them with that cream you will be disgusted by the taste. Look it up!

Put something nasty and unappetizing on your nails so you’re not tempted to bite them,
if you do it when you’re like nervous, you can do something else, like color or knit, they’re calming, or any form of art or dance, run, twiddle your thumbs, there’s a bunch of stuff.
Your cuticles, I guess the same, or like cut them as short as possible so they don’t bother you.
