the only way to stop is to make a concious(sp) effort to do so. many people say to paint your nails so you’ll want them to look nice stopping you from biting. don’t bother, it doesn’t work. others say to put nasty tasting stuff on them. again, don’t bother. the fact is you have to catch yourself each time you go to put your hand in your mouth and stop yourself. it’s the habit of hand to mouth that needs to be broken.

This may sound gross but it worked for me as a kid – start saving your nail clippings. I used a little film canister and was determined to fill it with clippings but once halfway there I was over nail biting for good.

What i did was have one finger that i bit and then i let all the rest grow. Once they’d grown i stopped biting the ‘biting finger’ lol. It’s like giving up smoking give a bit up at a time. lol

put something really horrible tasting on them. Try ben-gay or really hot sauce.
