Abstract: A 60-year-old man with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and benign prostatic hypertrophy presented for routine evaluation. Physical examination revealed severe deformity of his fingernails (figure 1). All 10 digits had marked, irregular nail plate shedding that began at the distal groove and progressed proximally.
