Question by sound: Does anyone have a cure for biting nails into the quick? I have very thin fingernails and…?
…they split a lot.
I use nail hardening creams and also have tried numerous nail polishes. Stopped the nail polish a couple of months ago, and now the nail biting has resumed. Any suggestions?

Eating gelatin is right for the nails. And keep using polish, anything from clear to black.

to bite my nails all the time.. I will bite to smooth off a broken place now.. but not like before. I now polish my nails. Biotin 5000mcg helps strenghten nails. Best wishes.

I bit my nails terribly, even until they bled, until I got acrylics. Yes they cost money, but after a year of acrylics, I was out of the habit. And trust me, I tried EVERYTHING out there before that. The bitter polish, nail polish, chili, gloves… The only thing that worked was acrylic nails. I have thin nails too. I couldn’t stand anything rough or snaggy on my nails and would bite till there was nothing left to get at. With acrylics there wasn’t anything rough to bite, and it didn’t somehow, well satisfy is not the right word exactly but that is the closest I can come up with. Since I let the acrylics grow out, I was very careful to always keep a file with me. As soon as I feel a rough spot, I file it smooth again. Now I keep them trimmed and filed. I don’t use polish because it only lasts a day before my thin nails bend and it chips off. Good luck, it is hard one to quit!
